I am looking to buy a Mac Book Pro to run avid. I looked on apples website to purchased one ,and I found that they are selling thunderbolt drives. I am interested but before I buy I was wondering if anyone have used them and did it allow more streams of HD.or what benefit would it be over regular raid hard drives

It will be faster than anything you can find in that price range.
    Will allow more streams

For example, you could probably online and grade in uncompressed 10 bit RGB ( which is currently Avid’s most demanding compression) with no particular lag problems.

Raid performance will depend on how you configure it

    See demo here https://www.viddler.com/explore/engadget/videos/2557/

    There are other’s, google it
