Thunderbolt 2 devises on Thunderbolt 3 computer
Posted by Nathan Sangster on February 24, 2020 at 2:20 pmI was wondering if using a thunderbolt 2 external devise, with an adapter cable, will pull down the entire thunderbolt 3 bus speed to match the T-bolt 2 speed?

February 25, 2020 at 2:15 pmWe are getting a new Mac Pro for editing and with the upgrade we are getting new T-bolt 3 media RAID drives. We would like to save money and continue to use our Blackmagic 4K Studio devices (T-bolt 2) for monitoring and I/O devices. We don’t want to draw down the through put speed of the media drives.

even TB2 gives you enough speed for 4k editing.
So mixing the devices with a TB3 computer is no problem, cheers

March 3, 2020 at 3:57 pmJust don’t daisy chain with the BMD unit to anything else.
Not sure if that even affects but I always give my US4K its own port.
