    There’s a similar thread about this on the Sony Vegas forum and here’s the workaround, courtesy of Paddy from Sony.

    Please navigate to the following folder (make sure hidden files and folders are being shown):

    C:\Users\[your user name]\AppData\Local\Sony\Vegas Pro\12.0\Media Pool Thumbnails

    Select all of the contents of this folder, and delete them. Then launch Vegas again, and you should be back in business.

    I’m in business… sort of. After clearing “the pool”, the thumbnails still have to refresh every time I scroll, but I’m not getting the “not responding” (unless I switch programs and come back to Vegas, then it’s just a minute or two). Thumbnails in Explorer scroll perfectly, but Media Bin is a real PIA.

    Do you have “Close Media files when not the active application
    checked in the Preferences ron?
