    Hello everybody.
I need to edit thousands of scanned pictures in FCP. Every picture must ocupy about 3 or 4 frames in the timeline. Is there a way to automatise this process or should I insert every picture one by one “manualy”? As you can imagine, this last option will resoult a very very painful job.

You can set the Still Frame duration in the User Prefs to whatever you want before you import the stills. Say 4 frames, and then every single image will be that length.

Then you simply drag and drop them into the timeline in order and you’re done. If you number them in order before you bring them in, you can literally grab the entire lot of them out of the browser and drop them into the timeline in one shot. FCP will put them in either numerical or alphabetical order in the browser.

Beyond that, it’s just editing and you’ll need to work manually. That’s what we editors have to do sometimes. 🙂

What Walter says works, but if you want to animate the slide show it can be done instantly in Fotomagico, I believe iPhoto will do this also.

Thanks Walter. That sounds like a good solution, but I have a new problem: if I set the still frame duration in 3 my imported still is 2 frames, if I set it in 5 is 2 frames, if I set it in 8 is 6 frames, so: no the order I give to FCP never match with the resoult I get. Why is this happening and how can I solve it.
    Thanks both Walter and Chris.
