Thoughts on Animating Dendrites
Hi,
I have to animate dendrites, the tiny branch-like fibers at the end of neurons. I need to show groups of dendrites growing in complexity and other group diminishing. I need to do this in AE.
Any thoughts?

The lightneng effect may get you close. Think it was the basic lightening effect, but maybe advanced would work too.. Anyway, by tweaking the settings you can get something that looks like a tree growing.

You may also be able to use particular to do it… You’d need to use aux particles emitting from the main particles to create the branching. Mike park did a tutorial for a chrstmas tree here:

You may be able to adapt that technique to suit your needs… Adding a turbulence would be my first suggestion.
