thoughts on 3D in CS4 (and CS4 generally)
Anyone out there with CS4 that has played with the 3D functions Adobe added? I have not made the upgrade leap from CS3 yet, and I’m having trouble getting the trial version to download and install properly, so I’m just curious what thoughts people have, if any.
I did semi-successfully get Photoshop CS4 downloaded and running, and it appears as though you have to have a pre-built 3D object to bring in before you can do any true 3D work – is this true? All I’d really like to be able to do is bring in an Illustrator file (say, a logo or whatever) and extrude it into a 3D shape. Can I do this with the new package, or do I really have to go into a 3D program to build the model, then open it in Photoshop so AE will recognize it, and THEN import the .psd file into AE to animate it? This seems terribly convoluted, but it’s the best I can come up with from a brief look at the PS trial and what’s out there online.
Thanks!
Steve
