I’ve never encountered this before. A project with JPEG pictures completed in Vegas Pro 8 can look just fine in the preview screen. Typically, I use keyframes in event pan/crop to end where I want to after a zoom or pan. Then if I render it to MPEG2 and bring it into DVDA, it looks like the pan or crop ends up in a different location (one I did not choose–e.g. showing a black border) at the very end of the pan or crop. Another strange thing is that if I first render the same project to AVI, then put the AVI on a new timeline and then render to MPEG2, it works fine. Obviously, I want to eliminate the AVI step. Any idea what is going wrong? I am wondering if Vegas has gotten corrupted and if I should re-install. Jim

Could be gremlins, but it might just be the render settings. Double-check to make sure your Project Properties match your render settings, especially 720×480 0.919 PAR (for SD DVD). Also, toggle the Preview window to Best (Full) to check for issues like this – some gremlins won’t show up in other preview modes. Oh, and don’t feed them after midnight.

Thanks! It looks like you cured my gremlins. Now….if I can just keep from feeding myself after midnight, I just might take better care of myself!! All the best, Jim
