I have final cut pro 4, and I added one clip to the time line and when I play it, it plays fine. But then when I modify the speed from 100 to -100 to play in reverse, it plays an entirely different clip when I play it in real time. But when I stop playing it then the video goes back to the original image……..waht gives???

What gives is that’s not how you reverse clips in Final Cut Pro.

Try opening your manual for the answer to these and other basic questions.

contol-click clip in timeline, choose speed then put a check in the reverse box.

How long is the media, not the clip, the actual QT media file from which this was taken? There was a speed change bug in v4 with long pieces of media. The only solution was export that clip, reimport it and hen apply the speed change. You can do it either your way, which does work, or with the reverse check box.

    All the best,

    Tom
