Try it with your RT to medium. No buzzing. Especially if you’re working in Progressive.

One other method. Nest your HD edit in a NTSC DV sequence. If the HD edit is rendered, it should play back in RT in the DV sequence, which you can also monitor via FireWire to your deck. Might even have better results than my other method.

My initial reason for going through all this was to monitor on a HDTV as a larger image instead of watching the video in a 5″ canvas window. I wasn’t even that concerned whether it was being viewed on a professional HD monitor a consumer monitor would of just been fine to me. With this client, I shot green screen and wanted to view it larger to catch errors in the key. But, it seems it’s a little more complicated than first thought.

I’m confused. You specifically asked for a method to monitor your HD footage on a professional SD monitor. You didn’t mention wanting to monitor on an HD monitor.

If you have a second cinema display connected, just go to VIEW- Video Playback – Digital Cinema Desktop Preview
The second monitor is now a video monitor basically.

i was thinking on the new iMacs with Thunderbolt: The Thunderbolts for media and the FW800 for the card (that’s what I expect to do to keep running my eSAT drives and my ioHD).[Shane Ross] “That and it costs $3400…”
This I was thinking on second hands. I thought would be a bunch in eBay 🙂

I tried outputting through the mini- display port to a DVI connector going to a HDTV monitor but was unsuccessful because of some unknown reason. So, I accepted the fact that I wasn’t going to be able to accomplish this so I thought the next best thing would be to monitor the HD signal through an SD monitor.
