This camera (and objects?) move …
Posted by Marco on August 2, 2005 at 2:01 pmTake a look at this movie:
https://ona1r.com/_movies/ee_evo.movas you can see besides the camera movements either the 3d layers move a little bit to add more depth to the 3d space.
Pretty simple if I set keyframes for the camera and the objects. But the question is: is this the only way to achieve that movement, or maybe is possible to parent in some manner the objects those I want to move a little to the camera?Marco replied 20 years, 9 months ago 3 Members · 6 Replies -

August 2, 2005 at 2:37 pmNot quite sure what you mean–could you elaborate?
Did you make the video you posted? It’s well done.

August 2, 2005 at 2:45 pmNo, it’s not by me.
I mean this: doing camera movement like that should be quite simple.
As you can see also the 3d layers move a little while the camera is moving. For example at the beginning of the movie, when you see BARBER SHOP in the background, the man in foreground is slowly moving before the camera moves. To do it I need simply to move the man layer and the camera. But if I have a lot of layers and want to create a movement like this, I have to move each layer, that’s a bit anooying. Now I’m just wondering if there’s an alternative approach to this: maybe with scripts … just a thought.
Any idea? -

August 2, 2005 at 2:53 pmI don’t think it’s the objects moving–it’s just a perceptual illusion caused by the difference in Z-depth between the objects. The only place where I saw the possibility of animation of objects instead of camera was a couple of places with the text. Otherwise, I think it’s just a careful layering of objects in the 3D space with a camera controlled by a null.

August 2, 2005 at 3:13 pmthat’s exactly what I’m trying, adjusting the point of interest or controlling the camera with the null … but no way to get the same thing.
until now I’ve got something like that only moving objects, but I’m still looking for a more convenient way. -

August 2, 2005 at 3:55 pmThere really isn’t an easy expression you can write to set that scene up to accomplish the depth-of-field effect. From what I can tell, the characters are very close to the camera, where as the barber shop is far away (estimated 500 – 2500 px away from character). The camera has very little depth of field and they just animate its path.
Cheers!

August 2, 2005 at 4:06 pmtricky … it works 🙂
so, the most important thing is set the right distance and the right scale for the background objects so that’s they seem quite close to the camera, while actually they are far. By this way when I move the camera I get the z-depth movement among the objects, but I’m not moving anything a part of the camera it self!
nice, thanks mates –
