  • third party monitors on macpro – Dell, HP ?

Has anyone had experience using HP monitors?
    Im looking at:

HP LP2065 20″ (for about $360 at BH w rebate)
which boasts nice specs and 1600×1200 res —
but it says Resolution in “Mac Mode”
    is only 1152 x 870 @ 75 Hz and 832 x 624 @ 75 Hz

I’m comparing this with two Dells which
offer additional handy inputs for composite, svga:
    Dell 2007FP 20 ($449)
    which also claims 1600×1200 —
    or Dell 2007WFP (wide) 1680×1050(for $399)
but this one says “Compatibility: PC”

Planning to get a Blackmagic HD extr, which I suppose would
open up some downstream monitoring possibilities, but I
would like to have basic 1600x 1200 or 1600×1050 monitors
without having to spend $700 ea.

Still lost. Thanks for any advice

Your Mac should be able to send any standard resolution to a 3rd party monitor. I use NEC and Planar flat screens with my macs and they work fine. I’ve looked at the HP and Dell LCDs too any they look nice and much cheaper than the Cinema displays.

I use the Dell 2405 monitors (two of them) and love them. They work great.
