I am a new Avid user who has been working with FCP for years. I’m not familiar with how the various versions of Avids play with each other.

The company that I work for just got Xpress Pro but I want to make sure the current projects in progress that were cut with Xpress DV will transfer ok.

Are there any extra steps I will need to take to load the DV projects in Pro or will they show up automaticly and load after I install Pro?

I will also be upgrading the OS from 10.2 to 10.3.9

    Thanks for the help!

biggest difference is that DV will handle 8 audio and 8 video tracks on the timeline. Pro will handle 24 of each.

But will my project that I did in DV open in Pro or will I have to convert it somehow?

It will open if you settings are the same and your audio rate is the same and you don’t have over 8 tracks.

Make sure you go onto your project bins and before opening the project on Xpress pro you delete the settings file. Otherwise you might expereince problems on Xpress pro every time you open that project. Once deleted you start Xpro, Xpro will create a new settings file.
