Hello, I’m using After Effects 7.0 and I want to create text in the style of the title logo for the movie “The Thing” (starring Kurt Russell). The text is pure white appears slowly with a nice blue like glow all around it. Can anybody help me do this?, I’m very new at After Effects. I do have the plug-in Shine by Trapcode if this is any help.

I have done that and it does create a nice blue glow effect but I want the text to appear slowly as the glow appears… I can’t really describe it I guess you will have to watch the Thing to know what I mean lol.

i think you’ll want to try using a gradient wipe to reveal the text. try using fractal noise as the gradient (note: you will need to precomp the fractal noise layer to use it as a gradient map).

you might also try an effect like film burn to create a track matte to reveal the text.
