    Hello,

    I want to re-crate the text effect used on the Secret.tv promo.

    Please see this You Tube example;

    https://youtube.com/watch?v=o2MqciSMOmk

    Where the outer glow wipes across the texts on each insert for example; “Everything I touch turns to gold”, I am looking to do similar in After Effects, I have tried outer glow, but it does not look right, I also need to make the glow travel across the letters as well.

    Does nayonw have any ideas, I am thinking of maybe adding a gleam across the letters as well?

    Thanks,

    Leo

    All you have to do is create three different layers. A black solid, text layer and an adjustment layer (have them in that order from bottom to top). Apply glow to the adjustment layer and now with the masking tool cut out a circle. Scale the circle down so it will just cover the text as you animate it. Under the glow properties, turn the threshold to 0%, radius to 20 and intensity to 1.6. Now, place the adjustment layer in front of your text and hit the position stop watch. Move the timeline bar ahead a few seconds and now move the adjustment layer past the very last letter. Also, make sure to turn your mask feather to around 190-200. That should pretty much do it.

    you can adapt Aharon Rabinowitz’s technique from his tutorial here:

    Excellent, thanks for the idea and link, I will try this later on today as I have ordered a new Samsun 22″ LCD monitor so will have plenty of screen space now.

    Thanks,

    Leo
