the scrolling end-titles flicker: one field missing?
(I am running Vegas 6.0d on WinXP SP1. I am using Xvid 1.1.0, Koepi’s build.)
I am rendering the scrolling end-titles for my project. When using Xvid, the rendered video presents a substantial flickering. The same end-titles render very smooth using WMV9 (WinXP’s default codec).
Here is an example:
– with Xvid (2.7MB)
– and with WMV9.wmv (976KB)I thought it was an Xvid issue, so I asked at forum.doom9.org. I was told this:
Whatever tools you have used for encoding: The sources have been treated differently:
– When feeding the source to WMV9 encoding, it was done correctly (no deinterlacing, the source is progressive).
– When feeding the source to XviD encoding, the progressive source has been deinterlaced by discarding one field & doubling the height of the kept field.
It’s the field discarding that is causing the flickering. Xvid has nothing to do with that – the error happened before Xvid did even get its fingers on the source.
The first thing I thought was that “Field order” would fix things, but changing that option didn’t improove things. The man who replied wasn’t using Vegas, so he/she can’t tell me how to fix this. He/she insists thought that there is one field missing.
What can I do to prevent the flickering?
Sorry, there were no replies found.
