From what I’ve read, a red X means dirty heads. I got that. Here’s the problem. My camera is brand new, barely any time on it. I got the X when I used a DVM63MQ that the camera came with, and my footage is unusable (horizontal blinds) I believe the DVX did flash up a message “Wrong Tape” when I was playing back the footage.
Do I have a bad camera or what?

Possibly though the red X is typically indicative of more head cleaning required. I had this on two cams yesterday. After head cleaning both twice for 10 seconds and blowing some canned air through the cassette deck it was fine. Be careful with the canned air- don’t tip it and send in ice.
