Does anyone know if the pproheadless.exe problem has been been fixed in Production Premium CS5? I have CS4 and like many others, have seen this error a lot. Like Gary, I reboot and it’ll work. But it seems a person should have to do that all the time. If its a communication problem between PPro and AME, it seems Adobe would have gotten it addressed by now. Any info? At the least, has anyone heard of a CS5 user ever having this problem? Thank you kindly. -SF

Yes, I actually did get the Pproheadless-message with (updated) CS5, just a minute ago, when rendering with AME.

I have no idea what caused the error. Previous similar tasks didn’t give any problems. It went wrong when AME was ‘reading XMP’

Could not write XMP data in output file.

So the question remains, what have you done to correct the error? I know how to correct it in most cases. It is one of those software codes that is used to render digital video that no one but the programmer who created it knows precisely what it does I think. Nonetheless, I found that if my computer has been running on idle for awhile, and the available memory it needs to process video has been consumed or is busy doing something else, the error appears while rendering videos in Premiere CS4 and Adobe Media Encoder. I find that if I restart my machine, reboot the program, the problem disappears. One colleague mentioned that the problem appears when processing a project with an XMP file. First of all, an XMP file is a data file or a media file that contains integral data or information about an associate file. Did you try restarting the machine and did the problem disappear or is it still a problem?

The error re-occurs every time I try to import a file for editning.
Nothing is ever done; start new project, import file, CS4 fails.
We upgraded 14 units from CS2 to CS4 and have this issue on 7 of the workstations. We are trying to work in the mpeg format.

Are all of the machines identical? Like in a lab? Do they have identical operating systems? The problem may be that there is a conflicting program that is causing the component to fail. It’s inhibiting the computer’s processor as it tries to compress the video or media file. The conflict may be a lack of compatibility between Windows (I’m assuming you’re operating a Windows platform) and Adobe’s media processor.

After I restarted the machine did the job.

I’m not sure if its relevant to mention, but after I disabled MPE (in PP CS5), my pc is pretty stable while rendering etc.. Maybe it has something to do with hardware-acceleration in CS4?

This is all I can say…
