I’ve read all the posts… so the question is,
has anyone figured out how to get the MPEG2 option back in the export quicktime conversion window in FCP5?

I’ve copied accross the QTMPEGExport.component from an upgraded machine that still has it workin, and now it comes up with an error saying something about the SERIALIZATION in DVD studio pro. I dont like it.

and i dont like compressor. I’ve got artifacts flyin all over the place.

    who would like to help?

    You don’t, you use Compressor.

It’s the same MPEG-2 compressor that would have been in FCP if it was there. I.e. Export > Quicktime Conversion > MPEG-2 would yield the exact same results as using Compressor since it’s the same processor.

Go in and tweak the settings or purchase BitVice to get extremely clean compression.

    You don’t. Use Compressor.

Then change your settings within Compressor. It’s the exact same compression tool that would be used within FCP so you’re not losing quality over the “old method” by using Compressor. I.e. Export to MPEG-2 in FCP would yield the same results as the MPEG 2 in Compressor with the same settings. It’s the same MPEG-2 compressor.
