I’ve had a problem achieving smooth playback of dvd’s on plasma screens rendered through vegas and dvd architect. The problem areas are the dv captured footage. All pans and motion are very jittery. Almost seems like a interlace issue. My project consists of motion graphic composites (which play back seamlessly) and dv footage (which looks horrible). Should I be rendering the mpg lower frame or progressive? I realize that the dv footage is captured lower frame first but should it make a difference of playback on the dvd when rendered to progressive? Thanks in advance.

Yea that does sound like interlacing issues where the field order is reversed. You might want to render the project as progressive just to eliminate it all together. This way it will be progressive on a progressive display and any DVD player will interlace it if it is connected to an interlaced TV.
