The Jagged Vector Blues
Hey all, I’ve got super jagged edges in the high-color contrast areas of my otherwise clean compressed movies. Here is a link to what I’m referring to, it’s most noticeable in the roof of the birdhouse and the backpack.

Any thoughts on how to remedy this or is it just the facts of life?

Should be pretty easy to fix but you need to explain your workflow. How did you create those graphics?
How did you get them in to your composition?
What applications do you use?
What setting did you use for the composition mixing graphics and live video?__________________________________________________________________

Graphics were created in Illustrator, video footage is HDV, all thrown into After Effects for animating. The AE composition was just the basic HDV settings and the final movie was exported to FCP using the Animation settings.
Everything looks perfect at every step of the process except at export.

Looks like there’s an issue with rasterisation on those certain vectors in AE.

Even though they look fine in FCP? Wouldn’t the problem lie in my Compressor settings from FCP? Just wondering.

It’s possible it could be compressor if you have mixed interlace and progressive content and didn’t apply a deinterlace control.
By the looks of it both animation and video are progressive?
I’d really need to know detailed information on your AE comp settings, your FCP sequence settings and your compressor settings before I could make a final call.
