  • The file format of filename.mp3 is not supported for import

Posted by Mark Erickson on July 12, 2008 at 3:14 am

I reinstalled AVID Media Composer, and now it won’t let me import mp3 files from my hard drive. last week I was importing and editing these same files, but after reinstalling it says “The file format of filename.mp3 is not supported for import”.

Any ideas would be very helpful. I am using version 2.8

    Thank you,

    Mark

I’ve seen import problems with filenames that have non-standard characters (or if the filenames are too long), but that is on Win XP.

I figured it out. I was running Quicktime Alternative instead of Quicktime. Once I installed regular quicktime it solved the problem.

    Thanks for the advice.
