    i wouldn’t say never, but you have more control and options with the render and output settings via the render queue, so it is preferred by most.

    sometimes you may have to use file>export to get a file type that can be read by some hardware/software… here we have several old pinnacle dekocasts that only accept .dv files. the only way we can ‘render’ straight to .dv from ae is by ‘exporting’ it via file>export>dv stream… so it does have it’s uses.

    Thanks for clearing that up guys. I’ve only ever used the render queue for exporting my final products and I know that the general wisdom is that the render queue is the way to go so I figured I’d ask why they even include the export option.
