I guess so. But hey, if it didn’t do it you could just press “down arrow” once and go right to the tail of the shot. What’s wrong with that? 😉

[bogiesan] ” we’ve been screaming about it since at least v2. Apprently, no one at Apple thinks it’s worth changing. “

Really? I’ve never even noticed where the playhead goes. Who cares? It doesn’t affect my workflow in the least. It doesn’t affect where I want to “work” after an edit. And if I’m dragging and dropping, I’m certainly zoomed out so that I can see both thte in and out of the clip so I know where it’s going. Therefore it’s just as easy to zoom to the head or tail. I use the z key to zoom. Press z. Draw a lasso around the area.

Assuming you only have one track and no j or l edits.

Like cmd+D for DESELECT ALL. ARRRRGGGGHHH. Why do I keep having to set this on the keyboard for other machines?

In version 4.5 I believe, or was it 5? they moved deselect all from cmd+d to the simpler… shift+cmd+A. WTF? Ok, fine if you want to add that keystroke. I guess they needed cmd+d for something really important. NOPE. Cmd+d defaults to absolutely nothing. Nothing. Having been a ps and fcp guy awhile, I live with my hand practically on cmd+d. I practically hit it before every action. It makes sure my ripple edits ripple my in/out. It makes sure I zoom to the playhead, not the selection, etc.

    BAH.

“Final Cut is not After Effects. Saying “No Easy Ease on keyframes” is like saying “Why does each element in my After Effects Comp have to have its own video track.”

Actually this one is a very valid complaint. Other keyframes in Final Cut have the “smooth” option with handles to adjust the accel- and deceleration. Not having that option on position keyframes is just useless.

Okay, people who complain often get damned, so I’ll just say I’m pretty happy but wouldn’t mind a few changes. Not sure if this was what you guys were talking about before with the timeline, but I get a little hot under the collar when I try to zoom out and FCP does not center around the cursor in the timeline. I know I can press the space bar a couple of times to get back to near where I was, but still do I lose my place. It would be nice to have an option to change this.
But one thing that I find absolutely crazy and unacceptable is that every time I import audio clips they’re all panned to the left by FCP for some reason. Is this a bug? Is there some reason for this? It’s been happenning for me since 4.5. Either something’s crazy or it’s me (generally it’s me).

    Ok.

If the clip is very long then you can’t see the head and tail at the same time unless you are zoomed out quite a bit.

They could have the focus follow where ever the mouse pointer is placed on the screen just from hovering.
