May 30, 2007 at 4:53 pmMan… no one’s rooting for Final Cut around here, are they?
Final Cut is not After Effects. Saying “No Easy Ease on keyframes” is like saying “Why does each element in my After Effects Comp have to have its own video track. I can have more than one piece of video per track in Final Cut.” Yes, things can always be improved, but at least look at how the package functions before just getting angry.
That said, I do have issues of my own. Like I don’t understand why the scopes monitor the viewer AND canvas (depending on which is active)… maybe this is fixed in 6…and of course, COLOR should take care of this anyway.

How you do to see the Viewer in the scope? I just can get the canvas. (FC 5.1.2)

May 30, 2007 at 5:01 pmSorry, typing too fast. I meant Canvas only. Thanks for catching that.

May 30, 2007 at 5:24 pmShame on me. That sound like the ABC in FC.
Thanks Walter. Something new learnt. Now I can go to sleep.
Cheers.

May 30, 2007 at 5:56 pmBack in FCP 3, the scopes showed you the active window, Viewer or Canvas. Current frame is all that mattered. Then they “fixed” it so that it was always the canvas unless you went to a teeny tiny pulldown and went all the way to the bottom of that menu and changed it to Viewer, and then went back and changed it back to canvas when you are done. What a hassle. And it was obviously possible in the beast three version numbers back on a graphite G4 in OS9!
Its not stupid when you just don’t like a feature. Its stupid when a feature you like is taken away without apparent reason.

when I click on a button in the header of a window and focus does not go there. such as being in the browser and then clicking on a button in the header of the timeline window and I am still in the browser with no effect. I have to always click in a window first to give it focus and then click a button. Very stupid. Extra steps. And the buttons in the timeline have effect on other windows. Why? I put buttons on the timeline header to effect the timeline, but they will effect the Canvas if it has focus. Dumb. I put buttons in the Canvas header for the canvas. The timeline buttons should not effect the Canvas.

May 30, 2007 at 10:54 pm[Jerry Hofmann] “So push the up arrow button one time to get immedately to the head of the edit…”
I know. But that’s one more click every time and taking my hand off the mouse.. I’d love to be able to turn it off.
Thanks for the suggestion.

May 30, 2007 at 11:02 pmHey Ben,
Sure I understand why the feature works for that kind of editing and I’m sure that is why they did it that way. But that is not the only way to work. I usually put a shot in and then go back and play with it. I like to work that way and I’m sure others do too. There should be a way to turn it off.
And I didn’t say it was stupid. I said it was dumb. ahem. ok same thing. I guess I meant that it was dumb for me.
Don’t get me wrong. I love final cut. I’m not usually a whiner. But this thing does drive me nuts.
Hey, never thought this thread would get any attention. Ok how about the Top Ten dumbest things about FInal Cut. Perhaps Apple could sponsor a prize for the winner!
