    Hello everyone,
    I know this issue has been explored many times (and i’ve read many different treads) still I can’t find a way out of this annoying problem, no matter the version of Vegas I’m using or the footage i’m importing.
    In this case I’m trying to render a 4k video from my Gopro Hero7 (4000×3000 at 23.967fps) which I have slowmotioned a little bit using Vegas pro 16, and I get this ghosting effect.
    I’m matching the same project properties as my footage, and i don’t want to desable resample as the slowmo would turn super sketchy;
    Gpu acceleration is off;
    Unchecked “adjust frame rate” and “adjust source media”
    Tried interpolating fields, blending fields still nothing;
    I can see this ghosting effect in the full resolution preview so i’m not even bothering doing test renders (already did tho, trying all kinds of settings);
    I’m running vegas on a I7-7700 2.80ghz 16gb RAM NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 1050 with Windows 10.

    See the image attached for all the details.

    Is there any kind soul willing to help me out? ☺

    thank you guys!

    You have forgotten “Disable Resampling
    Just do that and your issue will be no more.

    dear Steven,
    as i wrote in my message, i don’t want to desable resampling because the video would lose all the smoothness in slowmotions.
    I need to find another option.

    Well your only other option is Twixtor from RevisionFX….

    Thank you for your help Steve!
    So is there really nothing I can do about this ghosting without losing in smoothness?
    Is it possible that during all these years Sony Vegas hasn’t figured out a solution for such a common and irritating issue?
    All videos that come out this way are not usable at all!

    I mean, this keep happening since vegas 9 and with all kinds of footage, but i’ve never seen this happening to people making videos with other softwares.
    Is it only Vegas or is it me missing an important piece of the puzzle?

    Alberto,

    Although Twixtor will do the best job, if you have been paying the upgrade for Vegas Pro, the cost is a bit pricy. You could also try ProDad ReSpeedr (they have a trial version), and better than that you could use DaVinci Resolve 15 Public Beta (free version). ReSpeedr and Resolve are stand alone but you can render out with a high quality intermediate to bring back into Vegas Pro.

    Export original to image sequence, and then re-import sequence setting FPS to the playback you want the clip to be.

    Just a thought.

    Alberto,

    Out of curiosity, why are you shooting action at 24p as opposed to 60p. I have better results shooting at 60p in a 30p (or 24p) project and then those sections I want in slow motion I already have the extra frames to use without having to create them or duplicate them in post.

    Hello George,
    i’ve actually tried all formats and framerates and the results are just the same. Even a 2.7k at 60 fps gets ghosty as soon as i barely slow it down.
    Unfortunately i don’t have enough budget to buy twixtor, but what I don’t understand is if this is just a problem of my footage/computer or if everyone using Vegas simply gives up on slowmotions because there is nothing to do about it (but it sounds so unrealistic to me, when it comes to paying hundreds of dollars for a professional software still experiencing such limitations).

    Anybody has a clue?
