  • the command delete is not available?

    Hi

I am a video editor who is using the best CG in FCP, namely Photoshop

I am making titles with shadows and glows and all that in PS v8, and when i want to save them out here is what i do

i select the layer that has the type and effects

I create layers of the effects

    I merge layers

    I delete my alpha channel

I load seelction on my text layer

i save selection on my text layer

and then i save it out as a 32 bit tga or pict, depending on my mood 🙂

I have written an action to do all the steps above except the first and last
BUT every time i run the action i get an error message: “the command ‘delete’ is not currently available”

i can understand that message when i have no alpha, but i get when i have an alpha and want to make a new one

how can i fix this? and or is there a way around this issue?

    thanx

    bee eph

There is an action built-n to Photoshop…

Click on the Actions palette and load the Video Actions (that I wrote).

If you want to read the steps…

    thanx richard

i do not have the actions you mentioned in my version of Photoshop(CS aka V8) however I made one using the steps described in your PDF

I did have to add a “pre action” for deleteing the existing alpha channel, or else I get multiple alpha channels everytime i run the action. (my workflow is such that i may be making mutiple graphics in one PSD, then saving them as individual Pict files)

I have saved the doc you linked me, and will refer to it often!
