The COM object failed to initialize
I just started getting an error in Vegas when I open a certain project:
“An error occurred while loading the project .veg file.
“The COM object failed to initialize.”

8b402600-3f54-48cf-aea6-eedf77261b88 – Media GeneratorThe only media generators I have in the project are standard text and they are at the very beginning of the timeline. The project was created in the current version of Vegas I am using – Pro 9.0d (build 1133), so there is no conflict with an older version, as seemed to be the case in some of the other threads I viewed.
I performed an uninstall/reinstall but the error persists. It only seems to be on this particular project. I have text files in other projects but the error doesn’t come up in those.
Any help would be appreciated.

Do you have any 3rd part plug-ins that provide media generators? That number doesn’t look like a Sony generator to me. You might have to contact Sony and send them the .veg file to see of they can reproduce it.

Thanks for the speedy response, John. You are right – it was a plug-in. The error came from when I uninstalled Boris Graffiti. I reinstalled it and everything seems to be fine now.
