    Interesting that whoever suggested that the upgrade would be $699 was dead on. 1299 new, 699 upgrade. Sounds like it’s all worth it.

    Actually, here’s a quote from Apple’s site regarding FCP5’s Media Management:

    >Workgroup Editing:
    >Capture once, save time and share media with multiple editors using a
    >consolidated storage pool powered by Xsan. Improved Media Management Tools
    >provide support for reconnecting and managing file across large Xsan environments,
    >budgeting your real-time effects according to available Xsan bandwidth.

    Hopefully these improvements are across the board, not just Xsan specific. It makes sense
    that they would have to improve things for a shared storage workflow. Maybe I can stop
    calling it Media “Mangler” now.
