June 9, 2005 at 4:57 pmBernard, you can make your own “autorun”
Why pay $ for something you can add yourself using Notepad and a few keystrokes. Below, is the scenerio.
Open Notepad in Windows, and type the following (using YOUR file’s name). You can use any file format that Windows Media Player accepts. Make sure the size isn’t too big as to pixelate and/or stutter on screen…….
[autorun]
open=mplayer2.exe /play /close /fullscreen sample.mpg
**Save your Notepad file as ***.inf (*First* of three files)*Second* file is your video file (sample.mpg)
The *third* (file) item on the disk will be the mplayer2.exe file. Cut & paste this file.
** If you don’t want the file to play fullscreen, don’t add the wording in autorun.As for your question: “whats the best size and format to use?” That’s up to you. 60 seconds doesn’t take up much room on a CD disc. Use a format that’ll give you the best resolution that looks best on the computer you intend to use it on.
That’s it…enjoy!

June 10, 2005 at 9:54 amFormat? You can use anything for that 60 second clip. VCD, SVCD, Data CD, You can do QT, MPEG-1 MPEG-2 and for 60seconds, probably AVI.
Main question is how do you intend to play the CD. On a computer or a set-top DVD player?
For my “family” videos I send to China, I burn a standard VCD with MPEG-1 but they won’t auto-start. User just has to click the play button on their remote.
For computer CD-ROM I use multimedia software. Use to use Opus Pro but now I use AMS, both in the $500 range. There’s MMB (Multimedia Builder) that’s a lot cheaper and I’m sure most of the newer burning/authoring software will do it for you. However personally I’ve only used the burning software as just that, to burn/copy CD/DVD’s. But now they’re almost complete mini-authoring software.
I have 60 second clips that are from my DVD’s I’m selling. They’re in QT format. Pop the CD into the computer, navigate to the CD drive and click on the file and it plays.
You got a lot of choices.
