The Banker
Posted by Oliver Peters on March 7, 2020 at 11:15 pmAnother FCPX case study story. “The Banker” is one of the first original films on Apple’s TV+ service.

March 9, 2020 at 3:41 amThanks for the article Oliver, I found it very interesting. The film looks very cool also.
I see Apple pushed a bit for X to be used.
“George has a relationship with Apple and they had suggested using Final Cut Pro X”
I remember suggesting that if I were Apple I would have pushed for X on their Holliday spot a couple of years back, and I got a lot of push back on here for it as I recall ; )
I said back then that I had a great deal of experience working with big corps and when they “suggest” something…………. it happens.
Looks like it worked out fine for them.
It’s a good thing for X users because if they want folks to use X on big films like this, they are going to make improvements that filmmakers want from them. That will help anyone who uses X.

I think you may be making a connection where none exists. Remember, the deal with Apple happened later – after the choice of which NLE to use was already made. In fact, the deal with Apple caused them to alter delivery/mastering specs at the end of the line. Joel had been hanging onto FCP7 until that point anyway, so if it hadn’t been FCPX, it would have been FCP7.

The deal might not have been “inked” until after but did he “anticipate” a possible deal option with Apple?
Seems like he would have, since he had “a relationship with apple”.
I know I would.
