Shaky and Slow Motion are two separate effects. You get slow motion by stretching the events (i.e., Ctrl+Drag the edges) or manually changing their playback rate in the event properties. Shaky can be accomplished by inserting Pan/Crop keyframes that move the image around in a random way. NewBlue Motion Effects has an Active Camera effect is great for creating shaky footage.

thanks – i should have said the effect I want is the one commonly seen in movies – it’s more of a slow motion “stutter” effect.

You can get a stutter effect by decreasing the sample rate on an event. There is also a plug-in from Pixelan call StepTime that will do this nicely. It is part of Pixelan CreativeEase which is a nice package of plug-ins.

If only an effect of slow motion and and click the clip in the right corner you drag to the right by pressing the CTRL to an accelerated video you pull to the left
