That Audio Popping Problem Again!
Posted by Lanzi on July 19, 2005 at 3:24 pmI know this classic issue has been covered so sorry for posting. But reading pasts post did not help.
We are trying to use a music file in mp3 format (original score). From CD it has been imported using iTunes. And yes it ‘pops’ and ‘glitches’ on the timeline and viewer.
I exported/re-imported as an .aiff and as .mov. But still it ‘pops’.
What can I do?

July 19, 2005 at 3:28 pmIf it’s an original score, why is it an mp3? Have the composer give you a Sound Designer 2 or AIFF file in the 48khz format. That’s how I always recieve my music from my composers.

July 19, 2005 at 4:14 pmWhen you say “from CD it has been imported” do you mean that the MP3 file was on a data CD or do you actually have an audio CD of the music?

July 19, 2005 at 4:23 pmWalter: the other posts don’t address this issue. …I just read your replies, I now see your reluctunce. Of course.
No the original file was on his computer and he burnt it on CD. My mistake he does have it in aiff.
Anyway the problem was solved by converting to AIFF using Toast.

July 20, 2005 at 3:25 amFCP does not do a great job of upsampling audio files. You may even have better luck converting the file in Quicktime than FCP, although you would think FCP would just use Quicktime for this. Anyway, glad you found a workaround. Always ask for aiff or wav files, with 48khz audio and you’ll have no problems.
