I’m working on modeling a trailer- it’s basically an extruded spline at the moment. Ideally I would like to displace all of the faces so it looks like a corrugated metal surface, but I’ve run into problems on the CAPS side. There are lots of triangles, which don’t make for a successful displacement.

Does anyone know how to get the CAPS side to contain only Quads? Or should I be modeling this a different way?

    Thanks.

if you make the caps of your extrude Quadrangles, check off Regular Grid and make the grid size fairly large so the number of triangles at the edges is fairly small (and let your Hypernurb do the rest) then use Subpoly-displacement it should give you a good corrugation.
