texture for sphere
Posted by Damon Surzyshyn on May 11, 2006 at 10:15 pmI’m having trouble mapping a texture to a sphere primitive…it keeps pinching the texture map in the centre. I am using a 1440×486 PSD as the texture for a 720×486 comp. Any ideas?
Thanks

May 11, 2006 at 11:39 pmHi,
Your texture map should have an aspect ratio of 1:2 (1440 X 720 or 972 X 486 for instance)
What are you trying to create?Salut.

May 11, 2006 at 11:59 pmOK…I’ll try it at the 1440 x 720…I was using the dimensions that usually work for me with CC sphere.
I am trying t make a baseball with a logo on it…I made a PSD with a peanut shaped path that i stroked with a red pound symbol looking brush that makes half assed looking stitches…I also made another version that was 50% gray with a white stroke that i use as a bump map.
Any other suggestions on how i can get it looking a little better are apreciated.

You should also consider painting the holes for the stitches and use this map as a transparency map.
You would then need to place a second black sphere inside of your baseball to get dark holes.
Your bump map should also have a kind of leather texture.
I have a Baseball on my site https://www.nyc-visual.com if you want to have a look at it.Salut.
