  • Text/PSD imports always result in Aliasing

Posted by Jason Johnson on February 23, 2011 at 11:36 am

I use a lot of imported PSD files for TEXT and logo’s I’ve designed in photoshop for my premiere pro CS5 projects.

They look great and amazing within premiere, even after I render and get the green bar in premiere. But for some reason, I notice after encode, especially for youtube, my text/font/logos lose that crispness it once had and it gets aliased and jaggy. What can I do in my encode settings to prevent this?

    It’s really annoying.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

    Hi Jason,

What are your export settings, can you post a screen shot?

For YT you always need to de-interlace.

    Wait, huh really?

I have to de-interlace the entire video or just the images? Can you be a bit more specific..I’ve never heard that.

My footage is 1280×720/23.976p – exporting it out to the same exact resolution/fps. Using media encoder cs5, settings 2 pass VBR target 8mpbs, max 10mpbs. Audio AAC stereo 128kpbs.

Maximum depth render. etc. I dont think its necessary to take a screenshot, let me know if you need anymore info.

Try the YT preset (under H.264), see how that works.

Yes that’s what I use already. I just crank up the bitrate a little bit.

    My text turns out jaggy
