  • Text/Graphic disappears when I click on the “make 3D layer”

Posted by Dragos on October 6, 2013 at 8:14 pm

I recently downloaded a pre-built animation that has drop zones, etc. I want to add an additional 3D layer of a logo receding into space within the composition, but when I add the graphic and click on the 3D cube icon to convert it to a 3D layer, the image disappears. Do I need to somehow connect this graphic to the camera, or am I missing something else? Any help is appreciated.

Just view the composition using all 4 views to work out where your camera layer and lights reside in 3d space. By default when you hit the 3d switch the opject is centered in the the comp. The fact that it dissapears probably mean either your lights dont light the center of the scene and/or your camera setup is somewhere else in 3d space.

    The most likely cause –
the 3D layer is not in the camera view. this may occur with an animated camera. the remedy is to select the 3D layer and hit the key combo, CTRL+Home, which centers the layer within the active camera’s view.
