Text/Chyron Shaking on Lower 3rd
Hello Cow Community;
Just started a new job and reviewing some previous projects by other employees. Noticing on the master and in FCP that the chyron on the lower third is shaking on the output monitor (SONY Trinitron Broadcast). I am wondering if there is a way to fix this? I know it has something to do with NTSC but don’t know how to eliminate the issue.
I apologize if this has been asked before, I did a search and couldn’t find anything on lower third chyron. Everything was for text that was crawling or scrolling. Thanks for help!

What color is the graphic?
Does it happen on playback?
What typeface are you using?
all of these will factor.

The color of the graphic is white and sometimes yellow/gold (color of the cow). The text not only shakes but sometimes the Matte as well. The previous editor liked to use text with a colored Matte underneath so the text was visible on certain video.
The text shakes on playback, more so when it is stopped and a single frame is being displyed on the output monitor.
The typeface being used is Myraid Bold. There was a drop shadow used. I am also noticing that “Title 3D” is being used to create most of the chyron.

You might just check to see if the position under the motion tab settings is set to a even number on the Y axis. FCP’s internal title tool acts funny if it isn’t.

Yeah I checked that. I never use Title 3D, I work with AE or Text in FCP. But it seems everything is set to an even number…
