Text with pixel Aspect Ratio
Posted by Chris Anderson on October 28, 2009 at 9:53 pmIs it better to create text with Pixel Aspect Ratio Correction on or off in either Photoshop or After FX? Or does it make a difference?
Thanks,

October 28, 2009 at 10:54 pmThe question shouldn’t be so much about the text as about the image itself. What format are you working in? What kind of image are you creating? What are you going to do with it? I’m assuming you can’t create the text inside FCP.
All the best,

October 28, 2009 at 11:04 pmwell, really in general.
This particular project will be DV widescreen and the open is being done in afterfx.
I just know that if you were to create a shape, you would draw it with correction set to on, so it would look normal and too thin with it set off. Otherwise, if you draw it while off, it will look fine but stretched too wide when set to on.
So I wasn’t sure if text reacted the same way, where if i created it while set to off all would look good but be stretched too wide when viewed correctly.-Chris

October 28, 2009 at 11:16 pmFor FCP it’s all bitmapped images. The application treats flattened images differently from layered images, but you’re making it in AE then you’re exported a finished movie. You make it using Adobe’s specifications, not Apple’s. When you’re done in AE you export a movie in your film format to put into FCP.
All the best,
Tom
