  • text unreadable after resizing document

Posted by Grady Knight on June 12, 2008 at 4:42 am

I am using Ps 7. When I add text to a map I am working on then resize the map to 50% the text becomes unreadable. I believe that I am making the text large enough to read at 1/2 the size but much of the text has ragged edges and the vertical strokes seem twice as thick as they should, looks like blobs from a leaking pen.
I know that there must be something that I should be doing to the text before I resizes the document but not sure what.
Also if I increase the size of the document it also ruins the text edges.

Should I be resizing to my final size before I add text? I would have to do two separate maps for that, need two final sizes.

Thanks in advance if you can help me with this.

Are you just changing zoom size or the image size.

    Text is vector.

Check the anti-alias settings you are using i n the Options Bar

look up antialiasing in help menu

Tried looking it up. Said to turn of anti-alias go to Edit -> Preferences -> General. I look there and cannot find anything about anti-alias. Am I looking in the wrong place?

Is the file a PSD or are you working with a flattened image? In other words, are you flattening the image and then resizing it?

Yes I am working with a .psd and yes I flattened the image before I resized it. I am only resizing it because I need one samll for a web page and a larger pdf file for downloads.
Maybe I need to just make two different documents?

    Thanks for your help.

Duplicate the PSD, resize it and then flatten it. Your text should hold up then.
