TEXT Tool FONT recognition
Using FCP 7.0.3 each time I go to revise an existing title in the timeline the font changes to the first font in alphabetical order in the font list. It does not respect the original font that was used to create the title text.
How can I force the changes in text to recognize and continue to be composed in the original font used to create the title? The text font box always defaults to the first font in the font list on my system.
Better yet how can I have FCP 7 tell me what font it is composed in?

sounds like you are missing a font from your system that was used in the edit.
if a font is not present, FCP will default to one that is.to find out what font was used initially,
you might be able to open the project file in text edit, and do a search for “font”or call the original editor, if you have inherited this project.

Thanks Nick for the response. I was hoping that when I opened the text to modify it I would get a reading as to the font it was written in. That makes sense that if it is not in the library of fonts it can’t call it up.
I am trying to install fonts in the main Library for use and I notice that there is a User Library also. I am investigating if the Main Library Fonts folder is the one to go to.

FCP has always had issues with PostScript fonts in its plugins. If that’s your problem, you might try this workaround.
