  • Text Tab not showing up in Motion 4

Posted by Chris Woods on September 4, 2011 at 2:18 am

I’m having an issue in Motion for when I’m creating a text and I want to add an outline to it, but the Text Tab in the Inspector is grayed out. My Motion at home is fine and I can see the elements in the Text Tab, but the one at my work doesn’t work.

I have read that that they were some bugs in Motion and I done a Software Update, but that didn’t fix the problem. The Motion at work is the same version as the one I have at home and I’m doing nothing different, but it just won’t work on that one.

Just wondering If anyone knows anyway to fix this issue.

    Thanks,
    Chris

Lool that you did not lock that layer or a group. Also press f6 and see how ling is your layer maybe it is only a frame long.

Thanks for replying. I checked the layer and it wasn’t locked. The clip was about 10 seconds long and the Text tab still was grayed out. Do I need to do a System Software Update for the OS? Thanks.

Then try deleting the preferences of motion. Than start up Motion again and see if this fixes the problem. You are on Apple Motion 4?

    See this article please:

Yeah, I’m using Motion 4. How do you delete the Preferences?

    Thanks,
    Chris

All you had to do is read the article I send you in the previous post.

    Anyway read this

    Delete user preferences

You can resolve many issues by restoring Motion back to its original settings. This will not impact your project files. To reset your Motion user preference settings to their original state, do the following:

In the Finder, go to ~/Library/Preferences—the tilde (~) represents your Home folder.
Drag the “com.apple.motion.plist” file from the Preferences folder to the Trash.
