  • Text reveal by individual parts of a character, how to?

    Hi all,

I’m trying to mimic the text reveals from the supercar documentary APEX, where the titles appear by the parts that make up the individual letters. For example, the letter “L”, the vertical portion of the letter would appear on screen at a different time than horizontal portion. The closest I’ve come with AE’s built-in text animator is with each individual characters revealing at different times, but I want to get deeper than that. It would be a bonus if it can stay easily editable. It feels impossible to find a tutorial online. I created a cheater example by using shapes and animating the opacity, but there must be a “real” way to do this. TIA

Hi Nick. You could do this by using (overlapping) masks for each section of the text (all set to Add), then keyframe the individual Mask Opacity from 0 to 100.
