    Hi everyone!

I duplicated the text layer and added a stoke via layer styles to the bottom layer to get this effect. I like the way the outside of the stroke looks, but I have stroke gaps between the letters that I’d like to fill in. The goal is to get the top layer to look like text sitting on a solid plaque. I feel like I’m missing something simple here. Image of example attached. Thank you!

    Kerning and leading is required.

For space on return use leading.

For space between characters use kerning.

You can also kern individual characters by using Option + Left/Right Arrow.

Just place the cursor where you wish to apply the kerning.

In that case, you would split your graphics into two layers: one with text, another with rectangular shape. Then there many tutorials around that show how to prime the underlying rectangle so it reacts to the text. Here’s one of those..
