made text with CMD/ALT/T – Black Color.

Put it over top of image of a sky with a skyscraper in background.

When i export i use Animation or Avid COmpressed.

WHen imported to Avid. the text looks aliased, the background image looks crystal.

    WHats the deal? with that?

And when i have a horizontal move on the text i can see the interlace lines while in motion.

there is probably a difference in how you rendered versus how you set avid to import the render…

if you rendered as progressive and imported into avid as interlaced, your hard edges will look pretty jaggy. i would imagine that something similar may happen if you rendered as interlaced and imported as progressive, but i haven’t seen that.

there are a few other things to do when you import into avid. make sure your pixel aspect ratio is set to match that of your comp and unless you added an adjustment layer to correct for ntsc safe colors, define the color space as rgb when you import.

one last thing… you mentioned ‘exporting’ you render form ae. if you are choosing file>export to render your comps, you should try using composition>make movie or composition>add to render queue… rendering this way will give you more options for rendering plus, if you have cs3 or higher, it will allow multiprocessing for the render (exporting won’t use multiprocessing).

also, if you are working with sd, after adding a comp to the render queue, click the output module settings, click format options and find the avid meridien uncompressed codec (if you don’t see it, you can download them from avid). this is a good codec to use when going to avid and makes it easer when importing, you won’t need to choose pixel aspect ration or invert the alpha, etc.
