I’ve been working on a project that requires text masking. As far as I know, the mask tool does not work with text like it does with other objects. To solve this problem I used solid black rectangles to reveal the text (the background is also solid black). This works fine on my computer screen, however, the rectangles appear as subtle artifacts on my broadcast monitor. I’ve messed around with encoding and render settings, but I can’t seem to get away from it. Is there any way I could prevent these rectangles from appearing in the final render? Or possibly use an alternative method for text masking (the right way)?

    Thanks for the help!

Add an Image Mask to the text object, create a new shape and drag it to the Image Mask source.
