Text linked together?
Quick question here, I have multiple text layers to fake a 3d look (m copy of C4D doesn’t come in til next week so this is the quickest way) there’s a way to link the text files together so when I change one of them, they all change too…Anyone recall how to do this? Thanks.

you should be able to parent them… either all of them to one, or all to a 3d null layer then manipulate the null.

Sorry I didn’t word that properly. I know of parenting them so they move together. I meant like when I actually change the text from say “after effects” to “adobe” as an example, I would only have to change one of the files not all of them.

sorry… thought you were having a brain-fart.
you can enable expressions for a text layer’s source text property, then drag the expression pickwhip to the source text property of another text layer to link them together. then when you update the non-expressioned layer the other will update to the same.

Twirl down the Text properties in the timeline. Alt-click the stopwatch on the Source Text property for the second layer, and then pickwhip it to the Source Text property of the first layer. Now updating the first layer will also update the second.

Got it worked perfectly. And I was still having a brain fart…just not quite as explosive of one!

You can also just precomp the text layer and use the precomp to layer the text in 3d space. This way you change the text in that precomp and it obviously updates in the main comp.
