Text layer progressive alpha

Hi all,

Anyones knows if it’s possible to use the range animator to do a continuous alpha fade in/fade out instead of per letter.
Per letter works relatively well but in the case of big letters it doesnt look that good.
Up to now i did it either using a gradient layer that i moved, or a mask with feather, but when there’s a lot of text these 2 solutions can get very unhandy to do.

In the Range Selector’s Advanced menu try using the RAMP UP setting. You’ll then need to animate the OFFSET rather than START or END.

That’s just the way the textacy animation works. On a per-character basis.

I’d use the method you described (gradient layer as a trackmatte) or if you want to do it on 1 layer,
use “Alpha Ramp” Plugin (red giant software Image Lounge), it’s on the CD of Creating Motion Graphics by the Meyers
