  • Text issue – Overlaying a name/title

I’m new to Vegas 8.0, and I’m trying to make a person’s name appear underneath the video of them while they are speaking. I’ve tried playing with the TextMedia option, but can’t figure out how to change the opacity.

Whenever I create a new title (or name) for the person, a white box with their name in it covers up the whole screen, rather than just their name showing up underneath an image of them.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Are you putting the generated media on a track ABOVE the video track?

    Track 1: Title
    Track 2: Video

Are you using one of the presets with the checkerbox background? Those are transparent backgrounds.

Thanks for your help, Edward. I simply added a track above my video track, and it worked fine. Before, I was trying to embed it into the same track, which is why I was running into issues. We’ll chalk it up to a beginner’s mistake!

Yes, if you add it to the same track it will REPLACE the video – not generally what you want. Glad you got it working.
