  • Text glitch when adding a behavior

Posted by Hans Damkoehler on December 22, 2009 at 9:19 pm

I’m sure this question has been asked before but I cannot find a thread:

When I add a Behavior to my text there is a noticeable glitch where the behavior starts. In this particular instance it seems to clamp down the edges of the text as the Behavior begins creating a very noticeable and frustrating visual snap.

Anybody seen this? Anything I can do?

By the way, there are NO filters on the text or previous behaviors effecting the text. No drop shadows, now glows, etc.

    Thanks!!

Apply the behavior to the group rather than object. also look at the 2d and 3d group this can flatten some of the effects thus no cut off.
If you have lots of objects create a group for only that object and apply behavior to the group not the object.

Text behaviors won’t work on groups. We need to know what the behavior is.

Thanks folks … it is the Relax Out Text Behavior

I assume it is because of the glow effect, etc that the behavior creates, I just wish that it was smart enough to know the state of the text beforehand … but I could just be completely off! I appreciate your help!

Are you talking about how the size of the text gets slightly bigger? You can ease that in if you go to the Behaviors tab. Click on the Controls disclosure triangle. Click on the Speed pop up menu, which defaults to “Constant”. Change it to “Ease Both”. This will ease the text growth in more naturally. I hope that is what was bugging you. If not let us know. Best of luck.

Thanks again for helping me be clearer! Actually it suddenly gets smaller, like the text had a natural bloom to it and it suddenly got clamped down (although there are no effects on the text or group, etc.) I’ll try messing around with your suggestion though and see if that helps! Thank you!!

I can’t seem to re-create this problem. Can you post the project file so we can take a look at it?
