    Dear Group
I very rarely create text in FCP. But the other day the necessity came up and I noticed somehing very strange.
When formatting flush left the text created lined up flush right, and when set up for flush right it created text flush left. This seems abnormal.
Anyody have an idea what’s up.

    FCP 5.04, G5 Dual 2.5 4 gigs ram

    thanks in advance

WHICH text generator did you use?

use the boris 3D text generator.

It acts kinda like a word processor.

I used the following path: Video Generators>Text>text
This is the one that creates a text field without animation etc.

    thanks

[PAUL COLIN] “not all of us have the Boris 3D plug-in… or am I missing something.”

    Yes, you are missing something.

Title 3D (from Boris) is INCLUDED with all FCP versions since 3 or 4.

Anyone buliding titles using the FCP “native” title generators
and not Title 3D is “missing the boat”.

    Thanks Thax
I come from a motion graphics background and have always used AE for titles.
But for simple down & dirty stuff Boris 3D will work.
I never even thought to look for it in FCP.

    thanks again!

Yeah. But don’t use that one. Use Boris as we have said for better quality.

    Thanks Kevin
I checked out the Boris titler (3D as well as the crawl/roll generator) and was underwhelmed.
The type was aliased to some degree and the roll was rather jumpy (after rendering)
For a static title there’s nothing like photoshop and AE for animation I guess.

    thanks for your help

I don’t see any problem with Boris stuff. Are you sure you are monitoring at Safe RT and High quality (Not dynamic) and on a production monitor? It’s as good as any titling I’ve ever seen.

    Kevin
    You’re right!
I didn’t have the continuously raster box checked in the roll/crawl text options window checked.
    It’s a beautiful thing!

    thanks again
